This weekend, my boyfriend and I went on a cute little trip away to Bath.

We arrived at our hotel after making a wrong turn on the way and taking the scenic route! We stayed just outside Bath in a Premier Inn, because anything near the city centre and anything fancy was waayyy out of our budget. But it worked out well and the hotel was actually quite nice.
We spent the first day exploring, wandering round the shops and parks and having a stroll by the River Avon. We had a look at Bath Abbey and spent a while sitting and enjoying the sunshine by the Royal Crescent (I NEED to have a house here one day #goals)

Then for the highlight of the day-we went to the spa!
Thermae Bath Spa uses naturally heated waters at 33°C, so their pools were like being in a huge bath tub! We bought the Twilight package which meant that we could watch the sunset over the city while in the rooftop pool. It also included a meal in the restaurant and we were given a robe and slippers, which I got very excited about...
There were three levels to this spa:
Minerva Bath- a big swimming pool with a built in jacuzzi
Aroma Steam Rooms- Four rooms, each with different smells. Our favourite was the menthol room which smelled like vapour rub.
Open-air Rooftop Pool- Had a pretty fab view of Bath from up there. I thought I'd be super cold (after all, it's still only March) but it was lovelyyy.
We left the spa feeling sooo relaxed, the perfect way to end our first day in Bath.
Day two, and being history students, we couldn't resist checking out the Roman Baths. We were given an audio guide and spent a while finding out all about Roman life in England. It's amazing to think that the Romans built these baths and that they would have looked more magnificent than they do today.
The water is a horrible green colour because the sun encourages algae to grow, but back in the day, the baths would have had a roof so the water would be clear and pure. There were many other pools that we saw and we got to taste the water (although it tasted gross because its heated at 33°C).
After this was lunch and shopping, followed by a lovely afternoon in a pub in Bradford on Avon.
Sunday was home time- NOOOO! On our way home we decided to stop off at Stonehenge to break up the journey. What we didn't realise is that you have to pay to visit. You have to pay to look at stones. And it's not cheap either. £14.50 to look at these rocks. I understand that a fee needs to be charged for keeping the site looking nice etc. but come on! We chose to save our money as we weren't too fussed about seeing them anyway. We ended up driving past the site and we made the right choice not paying! Here's the picture we took from our car...
All in all, it was a fab weekend . We go to different universities so it was nice to spend some quality time together. Bath is such a lovely place for a weekend away and I would definitely recommend the spa! One thing about Bath that I loved was how all the buildings matched. They were all made out of the same stone and it pleased me greatly (without sounding like a weirdo).
